The University of Michigan School of Dentistry invites qualified applications and nominations for the position of vice-chair of the Department of Biologic and Materials Sciences - Division of Prosthodontics.
This is an outstanding opportunity for an associate professor or professor on the clinical track or tenure track to lead the division of Prosthodontics. The division of Prosthodontics incorporates faculty members in the clinical and basic sciences. The department vice-chair will be responsible for leading the division faculty members in support of the discipline of Prosthodontics in the DDS Program (didactic, pre- clinical and clinical), and for fostering the continued development of an outstanding graduate program in Prosthodontics.
This division of Prosthodontics is inclusive, diverse, creative, and dynamic with strong clinical and research faculty. The responsibilities of the vice-chair include to evaluate and coordinate the Prosthodontic curriculum, and to oversee pre-doctoral and graduate Prosthodontic clinics. The department vice-chair has responsibility for the administration and leadership of the division of Prosthodontics including planning and goal setting, financial stewardship, faculty development, and oversight of graduate and DDS educational programs. Major research emphasis is on innovative approaches to care of patients with complex needs, and CAD/CAM technologies for crown & bridge and implants.
The successful candidate will possess a DDS/DMD and a MS in prosthodontics, or equivalent degrees. Top candidates will have a reputation as a leader with outstanding and innovative clinical accomplishments, knowledge of key aspects of education in modern academic dentistry, and an understanding of the contributions of diversity to excellence in academic endeavors.

The successful candidate will be appointed on the tenure or clinical track at the rank of professor or associate professor with a recruitment package commensurate with experience and credentials. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the position is filled.
