Job Summary

The University of Michigan Wolverine Pathways is seeking a knowledgeable candidate to serve as District Facilitator . Wolverine Pathways was established to increase high school rates, college acceptance and retention rates of academically promising scholars. The District Facilitator will provide exemplary service to the districts of Ypsilanti, Southfield, and/or Detroit by traveling to individual schools to meet with students, teachers, counselors, social workers, parents and administratively support students within their schools. The District Facilitator will also be the primary contact person for relationship between the school and the program.

Responsibilities*

  • Coordinate a variety of projects, functions and program components (e.g. meetings, in­service events, etc.) in a timely fashion
  • Maintain a wide variety of manual and electronic documents, files and records (e.g. student data, school information, etc.) providing up-­to-­date information and historical reference in accordance with established program guidelines and legal requirements
  • Monitor a variety of schools on behalf of assigned Administrator (e.g. student behavior and acedemics)
  • Participates in a variety of meetings, workshops and trainings for the purpose of providing or receiving information, maintaining community and parent engagement and support the needs of the students
  • Procures supplies and materials, maintaining availability of required items for schools
  • Research a variety of topics (e.g. current practices, policies, education codes, etc.) in order to provide information and recommendations
  • Respond to a variety of inquiries from internal and external parties (e.g. staff, parents, students, public agencies, etc.) in order to provide information or direction
  • Schedule a wide variety of activities (e.g. appointments, meetings, workshops, facility usage, etc.) for programs working under limited supervision following standardized practices and methods,leading, guiding and coordinating others
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the program

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant concentration
  • Some experience with administration/management
  • Must believe in the transformative power of education
  • Must have a keen interest in social equity and justice
  • Some experience with student or group counseling
  • Desire to be an advocate for the development of students
  • Be highly recommended by a least 4 professional associates
  • Must be able to attend precession training day and submit precession training assignments and materials
  • Specific ability­based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: communicating with diverse groups, displaying tact and courtesy, maintaining confidentiality, setting priorties, being attentive to detail, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships, working as part of a team and working with frequent interruptions
