Responsibilities*

  • Measure and fit soft goods and other off-the-shelf orthoses, which require minimal adjustments to meet individual patient requirements.
  • Repair off-the-shelf orthoses as required.
  • Perform preliminary fittings, final fittings and adjustments.
  • Provide instruction to patients in the proper use and care of devices.
  • Perform all aspects of casting – application and removal, crutch training, splint application and removal.
  • Function as part of a team to manage patient flow in a fast paced Musculoskeletal Clinic.
  • Duties may also include medical assistant responsibilities, such as escorting patients to exam rooms, performing vitals and recording medical history and medications in MiChart electronic medical record system, and assisting with other clinical duties.

 

Required Qualifications*

  • A high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary.
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant accredited course and certification.
  • Individual must exhibit a professional and positive image when interacting with patients, faculty and staff.  They must also adhere to a high standard of personal and professional conduct; possess excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills; and demonstrated ability to interact with a diverse population. 
  • Candidates must be able to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team, handling multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.  In addition, candidate must demonstrate problem solving skills, proficient computer and keyboarding skills, and excellent attendance.

Desired Qualifications*

  • Completion of orthotic manufacturer courses and/or has previous experience.
  • Previous experience working in an Orthopaedic clinical setting with reasonable knowledge of methods, materials and equipment used in Orthopaedic patient care.
  • Eligibility for or certification as an Orthotic Fitter by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics and Pedorthics.
  • Proficient in documentation of clinical care in an electronic medical record such as Epic or OPIE.

Work Schedule

This is a full-time, 40 hours per week position. Clinic hours will be 7:00-7:00 PM Monday through Friday.

Physical Requirements

You will be required to do some moderate standing and walking, as well as lift, position, push, and/or transfer patients.

 

Training

As part of the orientation training process, your training will be held at multiple locations during your first few months of the employment.
