Responsibilities*

  • Provide direct nursing care to patients and families in the Department of Neurology –Adult.  Assist providers in all aspects of clinical activities and procedural services.  In addition to direct patient clinic activities, candidate will be practicing tele-health nursing using live-calls from our customers.  
  • Patient teaching and triaging for a variety of neurological conditions is an important role of the RN.  
  • The candidate will assist neurology providers in directing care to maintain a consistent high quality of care to patients and families in the clinic and over the phone.  
  • Candidate must be highly motivated to provide the ideal patient experience to patients and families in clinic and over the phone.  
  • The person selected will be an active participant of a collaborative health care team.  
  • The candidate will act as a clinical expert to their peers and other support staff through formal and informal consultations and presentations. 
  • Develop collaborative working relationships across all disciplines.  
  • They will support assistive staff to maintain efficient clinic flow, as needed.  
  • Candidate will participate in departmental meetings to continually improve clinic processes.  
  • Develop and evaluate patient education materials for the Department of Neurology. 
  • Assist in the development and implementation of nursing protocols to improve patient care.  
  • Candidate must be able to perform their duties with minimal supervision.  
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and active participation in LEAN initiatives in the department. 
  • The candidate will attend and participate in conferences and continuing education/staff development programs to remain current in their practice and the nursing profession.

 

Nursing Specific Info

Salary & Nursing Framework Level:
This UMPNC RN posting is posted as Nursing Framework LEVEL C, including B.
Actual Nursing Framework LEVEL and salary will be determined at time of hire.
Nursing Framework levels range from Level A to Level E.

Required qualifications must be met by the candidate in order to be interviewed and considered for the position. Posting may be filled after the initial 5-day posting period. Required Qualifications*

Current license to practice nursing in the State of Michigan.
Minimum of two (2) years recent RN experience in a rehabilitation setting (within the past four (4) years) serving patients with chronic neurological conditions

Demonstrated ability to apply the nursing process in daily practice:  assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation.

Demonstrated experience assisting with a variety of procedures, in an inpatient or outpatient care setting.    
Demonstrated ability to function independently with minimal supervision. 
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.   
Demonstrated ability to establish collaborative practice with a multidisciplinary team.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated accountability to departmental requirements.

Desired Qualifications*

Work Schedule

Hours/Week: 40 hours per week
Shift/Hours/Days: Day shift; 8-hour shifts; Monday thru Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Location: Taubman Center Neurology Clinic

Note: All new employees will be expected to float to a designated unit(s) in times of low census.
