Job Summary

The Stewardship Coordinator is responsible for aiding the Associate Director in the facilitation of Michigan Athletics’ donor stewardship and engagement strategies, recognizing athletic donors of all levels. 

This person will work closely with other members of the Athletic Development team, University Development team and teams across the Athletic Department.

 

Responsibilities*

Donor Engagement and Communication (70%)

  • Oversee implementation of the acknowledgement process for all athletic donors, including reporting, email and hard mail communications, and interaction uploads in DART.
  • Assist with the endowed scholarship matching process for our 320+ scholarships, including overseeing the thank you card process as well as specific stewardship strategies for select donors (i.e. Shepherd’s recipient book and plaque).
  • Maintain database of facility recognition inventory to accurately reflect spaces available.
  • Manage the semi-annual Thank-a-Thon.
  • Supervise the Hail Yeah! program in coordination with Office of University Development.
  • Create content and maintain the day-to-day communications calendar, including: website, social media, Paperless Post, print, M Magazine, e-newsletter (TBD), special holiday messaging, local sources, partnering with the Athletic Communications office, among others.
  • Coordinate with annual fund and Athletic Communications to develop and track all communications going out to our donor base, both internal and external.
  • Organize and complete quarterly orders of our Win Wall Balls and other donor gifts.

Event Leadership and Management (30%)

  • Oversee the hiring, training, and scheduling of our Student Ambassadors.
  • Aid in the creation and tracking of event invitations and registrations.
  • Partner with Director of Student-Athlete Alumni Relations on increased engagement and donation opportunities with both current student-athletes as well as letterwinners.
  • Support the invitation and hosting of the football Athletic Director’s Suite, including creating briefing materials for leadership and development teams.
  • Assist in the facilitation of major and regional events, including Campaign Celebration functions and hospitality around post-season contests.
  • Serve as the point person for all event-related DART and DevNet inputs.
  • Performing other duties as assigned including travel as necessary to complete assignments.

Required Qualifications*

  • A bachelor’s degree is required preferably with previous experience in Intercollegiate Athletics.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with multiple patrons in a positive and productive manner while maintaining integrity and adhering to the compliance rules of the NCAA, Big Ten, and University of Michigan Athletic Department.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and effectively determine when information needs to be advanced to other decision makers.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, ever-changing environment, with the ability to effectively adapt and be flexible.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a positive, team oriented environment.
  • Strong commitment to the student-athlete experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop good working relationships with internal and external constituency groups and to work collaboratively with colleagues in a team environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities and meet challenging and changing deadlines.
  • Discretion and an ability to interact with high-level donors and the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
