Job Summary

Manage the accounting, budgeting, cost analyses and internal controls for the School of Dentistry.


Provide leadership, training, and guidance for the School of Dentistry's Financial Services operations: hire, supervise, evaluate, recommend staffing plans, salary adjustments and disciplining for support staff. 

Coordinate the development of budgets for all departments within the School of Dentistry. Prepare the School's all funds budget projection in accordance with the Provost's Budget Model.  Provide annual variance analysis. 

Manage the daily and monthly accounting and financial transactions.  Review and approve journal entry transfers.  Manage and prepare cost analyses and approve internal rebilling/recharge rates. 

Develop and implement administrative policies and procedures to ensure financial internal controls in accordance with the University's Standard Practice Guide. 

Represent the School of Dentistry to other units within the University and to external agencies with regard to the School's financial matters. 

All related duties typical of this position classification and other duties as assigned. 


Required Qualifications*

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Previous financial administration and supervisory experience.  Previous knowledge of clinical billing systems and accounts receivable management.  

Desired Qualifications*

Master's of Business Administration in finance and/or accounting. 3 - 5 years previous supervisory experience.  

Previous knowledge of the University of Michigan's Standard Practice Guide and financial responsibilities, policies, rules, and regulations.

Advanced knowledge of the M-Pathways system including financial, procurement, human resources, assets, space and student administrative systems. 

Knowledge of the School of Dentistry patient management system.
