Develop and perform complex biological experiments related to the functions and projects of the lab. These include being a specialist in: mouse breeding and procedures; organ dissections; cell isolation and culture; immunohistochemistry; confocal analysis; western blot; gel electrophoresis; ChiP; DNA/RNA preparation; qPCR; FACS sorting/analysis, in situ hybridization and cell transfections.
Initiate and manage duties to efficiently run the laboratory. These include ordering of lab supplies, maintenance of inventory, lab space and protocols, and participate in the establishment of new techniques and/or regulations.
Maintain and organize the lab in accordance with safety programs such as OSEH and UCUCA compliances.
Participate and assist in weekly meetings with the PI and other lab-personnel. Serve as point of contact to train, assist and support other lab-members on techniques and research projects. Troubleshoot problems and recommend solutions.
Conduct statistical analysis of data, interpret and discuss research with the PI, lab members and/or in lab meetings. Formulate research methods and suggest options for improving the quality of work, performs library research, and identify potential problems and recommend solutions.
B.S. degree in Biology and/or related degree field and at least 1 year of previous lab experience. The applicant will also have to learn and train other people in techniques such as immuno-labeling, confocal analysis and cell sorting. The candidate is therefore a team-player and motivated to carry out experiments independently with high proficiency as well as work with other lab members and the PI. Having the ability to multi-task, organize the lab being able to perform data processing, be detail oriented, have critical thinking, assist in manuscript preparation and having an excellent attendance record. Excellent communication skills.
