How to Apply

NOTE: This is a half time, temporary (20 hr/week) position that begins mid-August and ends early May 2019.  Call Center hours of operation are from 8:00am – 7:00pm, Monday – Friday.  We are seeking to fill position(s) in the following shifts: 8:00am – 12:00pm; 10:00am – 2:00pm and 1:00pm – 5:00pm.

Job Summary

Serves as public relations liaison between the general public, University personnel and the Undergraduate Admissions Office; provides directions and information regarding Admissions and University policies and procedures.

Responsibilities*

50%      Answers incoming calls to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions call center regarding admissions requirements, policies, procedures and application status. Handles and resolves customer complaints as well as routes calls to appropriate resource.

 

40%      Staff our “Live Help” chat system. Quickly respond to chats from students, parents, and high school counselors. Answer multiple chats simultaneously.

 

10%      Other duties as assigned, including, but not limited to, answering general email inquiries from students, assisting with the training of student staff, assisting with the collection of data. 

Required Qualifications*

Graduation from high school is required, experience with the college admissions process is preferred. 2-5 years of customer service experience, preferably in a call center. Ability to handle stressful situations and problem solve quickly.  Candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and strong professional judgment.  Strong computer skills and experience with multi-line phone system is a plus. Ability to pass a standard typing test with a minimum of 45 wpm.
