Job Summary

Under direction from the BRCF business manager, the Financial Specialist will work as part of the BRCF Administrative team analyzing and monitoring fiscal operations  for 11 unique Core operations. This will include creation of financial reports, assisting in development of Core budgets and developing budget tracking systems. This person will participate in regular meetings and provide direction regarding accounting and budgeting responsibilities, receiving input from Core Directors and management on core operations.  Help in the development of models in support of financial decision-making process.

Responsibilities*

Accounting & Reconciliation
Review and reconcile monthly activity; identify and resolve any issues; report concerns to administration. Transition current practice from a home built reconciliation system into enterprise solutions (eReconciliation; train others on eReconciliation).  Conducts special studies and develops or recommends accounting methods and procedures. Instructs or assigns work to bookkeepers, accounting clerks and other employees engaged in general accounting activities. Coordinates accounting matters with other departments, locations and divisions. Knows and applies fundamental accounting concepts.


Financial Reporting
Prepare and review monthly and quarterly management financial reports and ensure accuracy; assist with annual budgets; assist with development of management reports and data visualization that provide insightful analysis; maintain and run reports in Excel, Business Objects, M-Reports and other systems. Utilizes computer to input, retrieve or display accounting information. 

Billing
Perform internal and external billing for recharge activities across cores; set up vendor IDs; communicate with shared services to resolve discrepancies; communicate with external entities 

Financial Analysis
Meet with core directors to provide up to date financial data; participate in conducting in-depth analysis of core operations when cores are out of compliance with recharge balances.

Required Qualifications*

Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance or related field and 2 to 3 years experience. Progressively responsible work experience with financial anaylsis and forecasting processes in a customer-focused role. Sound judgment, analytical and decision making skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to clearly and concisely communicate financial information to all levels of faculty and staff who may have varying degrees of financial knowledge. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with ability to build successful relationships with a wide variety of people at all levels. 

Desired Qualifications*

Familiarity with UM accounting systems, policies and procedures and/or payroll.
Ability to use and modify Business Objects queries.
