Job Summary

The Social Work Department is seeking an Office Assistant with Work Study funding for the Fall 2018 semester and beyond.  You must have been awarded work study as part of your financial aid package AND be a student at the Flint campus to be eligible for this position.


Perform routine clerical and reception work.  Greet and assist students and faculty in a professional and courteous manner.  Answer multi-line phone and take accurate messages.  File, make copies, shred documents, perform scanning and typing.  Campus errands.  Assists staff during events as needed.  Actively participates in creating a professional and welcoming atmosphere.  Other duties as assigned. 

Required Qualifications*

Applicants must be a current University of Michigan-Flint student and have been awarded and accepted Work Study funds through our Financial Aid office for Fall 2018 term.  Good written, communication and organizational skills.  Demonstrate the ability to respect confidentiality.  Ability to work independently on projects.  Be reliable, prompt and dependable.  Ability to work as a team player and share workload outside of defined job description as needed.  Positive service-oriented attitude. Computer knowledge (MS Word, Excel & Outlook).

Desired Qualifications*

Experience in an office environment.
