A postdoctoral position is available in the Mueller lab at the University of Michigan. The postdoc will characterize the function of large sex chromosome palindromes and their associated genes using recently developed technologies in molecular biology and genetics. The postdoctoral researcher will be encouraged to develop their own independent research program using a plethora of resources available. Individuals with a broad range of backgrounds in biology are welcome to apply, as our lab has interests in the fields of genetics/genomics, molecular evolution, reproductive biology, and development biology. Pursue full-time research into molecular mechanisms of sex chromosome palindromes and their associated genes; read relevant scientific literature in depth; attend seminars and participate in joint lab meetings with other groups in Human Genetics; prepare manuscripts for publication and present research at national meetings.
A Ph.D. in biology or a related scientific field is required. The candidate should be able to lead their own independent research project, have strong verbal and written communication skills, and be driven by intellectual curiosity.
Previous background in genetics, reproduction, molecular biology or evolution is preferred.
