The DNA Sequencing Core, part of the Biomedical Research Core Facilities and located in the North Campus Research Complex (NCRC), is a service lab which provides high-quality, low-cost DNA analysis to researchers.
The new hire will be responsible for processing DNA samples for Sanger Sequencing, operating automated DNA sequencers, evaluating the results from the sequencing reactions, communicating those results to clients, and maintaining records of the process and outcome. Shared lab maintenance tasks will be included in responsibilities. Additional responsibilities will be assigned as the new hire acclimates to the laboratory environment.
Processing of Sanger sequencing samples - set up and purification of PCR reactions.
Process sequencer data - with interpretation of chromatograms.
Computer data entry - commenting on results.
General lab upkeep and maintenance.
Bachelor's degree with a specialization in Biology, Biochemistry or Chemistry. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential as well as an ability to work well in a team environment. Basic computer skills are required.
