This position will provide administrative assistance to the Pre and Post Award Coordinators with all administrative research processes for Department of Emergency Medicine Research. They will report directly to the Department Research Administrator.
Assist the Pre Award Coordinator in the preparation of federal and non-federal research grants, Unfunded Agreements (UFAs), Clinical Trial Routing Form (CTRF), and Proposal Approval Form (PAF) creation and routing. This may include simple budget development and assisting with completion and review of sponsor forms, ensuring compliance with sponsor guidelines and University policy. Coordinate subcontracts with outside entities. Assist with coordinating the budget and administrative shell components between multiple units and departments involved in large, collaborative, multi-disciplinary program projects and grant proposals. Preparation and tracking of the PAF. Serve as a liaison with the department, Medical School Grants Office, and ORSP. Help to review and keep NIH Biosketches and Other Support documents
Working with Post Award Coordinator on setting up new projects once awarded including sub P/G set up, Subcontract set up, and initiating PARs. Handling requests from sponsors as they relate to grant finances and other requests, assist with the reconciliation of project grants and conducting an investigation and resolution of problems. Investigating and cleanup of voucher errors, preparation of journal entries, preparation of budget projections, interpret university sponsor or third party regulations in reviewing and approving expenditures.
Analyze, compare and evaluate various courses of action and report those to the Pre and Post Award Coordinators, other duties as assigned by the Department Research Manager.
Bachelor's degree preferably in natural sciences, human sciences, social science, biostatistics, public health field, or related field, with up to 2+ years of grant and contract experience. Minimum of 1 year of experience in human studies research including recruitment, IRB applications, and/or budget preparation is necessary. Essential to be proficient in computer programs including word processing and spreadsheets. Good interpersonal communication skills. Individual must be organized, attentive to detail, motivated to learn, possess time management skills, and be capable of functioning independently.
A strong financial aptitude with experience and expertise with University financial reporting systems is strongly desired.
Experience with electronic proposal submission systems and with real time financials.
Experience in pre and post award grants management is preferred
Experience in accounting a plus. Reasonable knowledge of University policies and procedures is helpful.
