Responsibilities*

Clinical Track Faculty (.5 FTE)

  • Teach didactic courses as needed
  • Serves as scholarly project advisor (primary and/or secondary reader) on entry-to-practice and completion student projects
  • Advises prospective and current students
  • Participates in formative and summative student evaluations
  • Serves on program, department, college, university, and professional committees
  • Attends program, department, college, university, and professional meetings and retreats
  • Represents the program at recruiting events
  • Conducts annual clinical site visits
  • Actively engaged in individual and student research
  • Delivery of anesthetic care to patients up to 10% of time at Hurley Medical Center
    • Clinical instruction of students in anesthetizing locations
    • Clinical supervision of students in anesthetizing locations
    • Clinical evaluation of student clinical performance
  • Maintains professional expertise through appropriate educational/organizational activities and clinical practice
  • Seeks interprofessional education opportunities for faculty and students

Program Administration (.5 FTE)

  • Represents the program in the department, college, university, and community
  • Maintain compliance with COA accreditation requirements
    • Initiate corrective action should areas of noncompliance occur
  • Has leadership authority and accountability for program administration
  • Prepare and administer the program budget
  • Ensure truth and accuracy in recruiting and admissions practices, academic calendars, catalogs, publications, grading, and advertising
  • Equitable distribution of faculty workload
  • Evaluation, oversite, and supervision of program faculty and staff
  • Uphold standards and policies of the program, department, college, and university
  • Promotes student and faculty diversity
  • Counsels students regarding academic, didactic, and professional performance
  • Maintains and initiates contracts with clinical partner and affiliate sites
  • Establishes, maintains, and develops clinical site relationships
  • Curriculum development, review, and refinement
  • Provide faculty development for clinical, didactic, and scholarly project advisors
  • Policy oversight, implementation, and development
  • Continuous program evaluation and improvement of quality and effectiveness
  • Serves as program administrator on call as assigned

Required Qualifications*

  • Doctorate degree required, graduation from a recognized School of Nursing and accredited School of Anesthesia
  • Ccertification/recertification by the National Board on Certification/Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists
  • Licensure to practice in Michigan as a registered nurse with specialty licensure as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists
  • At least 2 years of more responsible experience in a supervisory/management role
