To assist the faculty in the Department of Pediatrics with financial and administrative support required to obtain research funding. A special emphasis is put on team work and respect for all individuals. Primary duties of this position will include pre-award management for NIH, corporate, foundation & society grant funding.
Responsible for the coordination of pre-award activities relating to grant and contract proposals.
Pre-Award Duties will involve assisting faculty with the development, preparation and submission of research proposals (Budgets and Other proposal documents). Ensure that proposals meet sponsor & university guidelines. Coordinate proposal activities between multiple PIs, departments and/or universities. Assist investigators with filling out MTAs, DUAs, CDAs, obtain the necessary signatures and route the UFAs. Meeting critical due dates, as set forth by the Med School, ORSP & Sponsor.
This position is part of the Department of Pediatrics Research Office consolidated services. This is a customer service oriented position and requires a person who will make providing quality service and ensuring discretion their priority.
Other Duties: Include, but are not limited to, JIT requests, managing biosketches/OS documents, assisting PIs with RPPRs, prepare sponsored projects required reporting documents, data mining using Business Objects MSTATS Navigate online searches for required information, create tools and templates to further efficiencies in the Pediatric Research Office, duties and special projects as assigned by Senior Manager and Associate Chair for Research.
2-4 years previous sponsored research financial management required and/or BA/BS degree or higher; requires a reliable, motivated person who works well under pressure and can operate responsibly and independently; this position requires a high level of multitasking and prioritizing, concurrently managing numerous awards with varying degrees of complexity; a successful candidate will work vigorously cultivating trust and rapport with a variety of constituents including departmental faculty and staff, medical school and university administration, and sponsors. Effective personal and written communications is a must. Qualified candidates are adept at learning new processes and systems as well as contributing to the team effort in creating or modifying them as needed. Good written and oral communication skills and experience with Excel a must.
