We are actively seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and customer-focused individual who will share in the goal of providing specialized, consultative analytical support. You’ll work on the highest-level compensation projects and provide consultation to Michigan Medicine executives. Our Compensation Consultants also work under a high level of autonomy with two remote work days each week.

What skills will you use?

  • We are looking for someone who has experience consulting to client groups, and expertise in external market pay to stay informed of market trends, maintaining and strengthening our ability to attract top talent.

  • You have the ability to work effectively within a team and with a high-profile audience, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships across multiple functions and job levels.

  • Your data analysis skills demonstrate your ability to draw meaningful conclusions and action plans on the basis of quantitative data, competitive data, and other HR related data.

  • You keep sensitive human resources and compensation information highly confidential.

  • Your communication skills (written and presentation) demonstrate the ability to simplify and succinctly communicate complex programs to HR, executives, and others. 

  • We're looking for someone with significant experience handling projects independently, including working directly with senior leaders to understand needs, crafting project plans, delivering within tight timelines, and who is comfortable dealing with ambiguity.


  • Develops, recommends and administers executive compensation programs, including short incentive, deferred compensation and other special payment plans aligned with the total compensation strategy.

  • Provides consultation on executive compensation matters to senior leaders for new hires, promotions and terminations. Partners with stakeholders on executive offers from development to approval.

  • Develops, recommends, and administers additions and/or changes to the executive compensation and benefits package to optimize costs and impact.

  • Manages all administrative processes associated with Executive Compensation: establishment and market pricing of executive positions, administration of incentive plans, and communication of plans.

  • Monitors competitive trends in executive compensation and benefits, and evaluates alternative solutions and their associated costs.

  • Collaborates with finance, tax, and other internal departments in the execution and coordination of various processes and requirements.

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, finance, or related field, or equivalent experience and 8+ years prior compensation experience including progressively more complex compensation assignments.

  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.

  • Proficient use of HRIS systems (PeopleSoft) and compensation related web applications

  • CCP (WorldatWork)

  • Executive compensation in the healthcare industry

  • Incentive program development

  • Knowledge of the healthcare industry and competitive market

  • Working knowledge of MarketPay or a similar product
