Primary responsibilities are receiving and shipping, equipment and material inventory at the HITS North Campus Data Center.
Also key are visitor access control and building telephone support. Secondarily the clerk assists the Data Center Services and Service Desk staff with assigned tasks. Perform tasks of a receiving and shipping clerk: Receive all shipments to HITS Data Centers. Verify all items received. Manage returns. Notify appropriate staff of delivery. Put new items in stock. Maintain clean and orderly shipping and receiving area. Assist in unpacking and moving equipment within the data center. Keep supply inventory and storage areas well organized and clean. Perform periodic inventory of supplies and prepare restock requests. Maintain office supplies (misc. networking equipment and cables, coffee supplies, etc.). Greet and direct persons entering the building. Ensure all guests/vendors/maintenance sign in and out. Direct and escort persons to correct destination. Issue parking passes to guests/vendors. Respond to queries from customers, vendors and visitors. Receive and sort mail. Answer telephone, screen and direct calls (734) 232-9100 only. Take and relay messages. General administrative and clerical support. Make sure van is fueled and parked appropriately. Log usage of van. Perform daily check of dumpster carts for trash and recyclables and empty into appropriate dumpsters. Winter duties include: Clear snow from main entrance, loading dock, and van. Spread salt at main entrance and loading dock. Start van on regular basis to ensure battery remains charged. This position involves standing for extended periods of time, bending, kneeling, moving/transferring objects weighing up to 45 lbs, and using a hand truck/forklift.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels within the organization.
Position pays $12/hr. M-F, 8am-5pm. Assignment begins ASAP and is expected to last 12 months.
