Job Summary

This 20 hour position will provide sexual health assessment, diagnostic evaluation, and treatment in both a psychotherapeutic setting (Center for Sexual Health at East Ann Arbor Health Center) as well as an outpatient medical clinic setting (OB-GYN Vulvar Clinic at Von Voitlander Women’s Hospital).  Individual and couples psychotherapy for sexual health related issues will be provided and there is potential to participate in research and educational activities related to sexuality and sexual health counseling.

Responsibilities*

Social Work services include but are not limited to the following: crisis intervention, family support and counseling, liaison and referral to community agencies, as well as mental health assessments; tangible resources; participation in team meetings and educational activities related to emergent needs of patients and their families.

Required Qualifications*

Qualified candidates must have a Masters Degree in Social Work (MSW) from a school accredited by the Council of Social Work education as well as current and full clinical licensure (LMSW) to practice social work in the state of Michigan.   LLMSWs will not be considered for this position.  Considerable experience providing adult and couples psychotherapy and sexual health counseling is required.  Strong diagnostic and psychotherapeutic skills and knowledge base, combined with experience with out-patient billing are necessary.   AASECT Certification must be completed or in process.  Experience working successfully with a multi-disciplinary team is necessary.  The ability to establish therapeutic relationships quickly and to relate well to a diverse population is required.

Desired Qualifications*

The ideal candidate will be able to successfully manage a large caseload with multiple competing demands. Excellent clinical assessment and treatment skills, critical decision making, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment are only some of the advanced skills required for success in this position.  Experience working successfully with multi-disciplinary teams in both psychotherapeutic and medical clinic settings is a plus.  The successful candidate must be flexible, adaptive, and able to access community resources.  Experience in effectively delivering sexual health presentations to audiences of peers and community members, and certification by the Academy of Certified Social Workers (ACSW) are both desirable.

Work Schedule

The 20 hours per week will be divided over three weekdays.  Specific days and hours will be determined by the needs of the psychotherapeutic and medical clinics that the social worker will cover.  Potential for some negotiation of hours exists.
