Job Summary

The position is full-time. The work schedule will typically be Monday-Friday, 8-hour shifts. However, flexibility on weekends and evenings may be required depending on study needs. This Research Associate will work on multiple projects at the University of Michigan Acute Care Research Unit (ACRU) focused on the continuum of acute care delivery—including pre-hospital, emergency department, inpatient, and ambulatory care settings. This is not a basic science/lab position.

Responsibilities*

Responsible for overseeing the progress of ongoing projects, and aiding in grant preparation to seek funding for future projects. Ability to operate independently and conduct unreviewed actions or decisions. Develops, designs, and conducts one or more small or moderately complex research projects according to plan; reviews progress and evaluates results. Formulates research methods and suggests options for improving quality, identifies potential problems, recommends and implements solutions. May act as liaison with other departments, divisions and organizations. Consults with users to refine or adapt methodologies to fit research requirements; collaborates in development of new techniques and instruments. Gathers data and conducts literature reviews. Performs data analysis and interprets results. Depending on level of contribution to projects and writing of manuscripts, co-authors publications, and may co-present with Principal Investigator at meetings and conferences.

Required Qualifications*

Master's of Science or Master's of Public Health. This individual should have an interest in health services research and health policy; personal commitment to high quality work; excellent communication skills, both oral and written in the English language; attention to detail; an ability to be resourceful; strong organizational skills; excellent interpersonal skills; the ability to multi-task and prioritize efforts; and the ability to work both as part of a team and individually while meeting deadlines.
