Michigan Medicine seeks to hire two Inventory Control Planners to lead Michigan Medicine in its conversion from a top up PAR replenishment model to a 2-Bin KANBAN system to improve the environment of care for patients and families.

You will help lead a project team while effectively working with clinical staff to plan and implement the new inventory management design. As a member of our team, you will work with clinical staff, review existing operations, and discuss potential rearrangement of supplies to improve clinical work flow and product availability.

You will have the opportunity to present your work in front of a wide range of audiences.  You will commonly be working with front line clinical and support staff, but may also present to senior leadership groups and full auditoriums.

You will need to quickly review and update inventory analyses and present the information to different stakeholder groups in a meaningful way.  The audience will have varying levels of experience with inventory management, so each presentation will need to be tailored.

The project has a focused cadence to meet the requirements of other institutional priorities.  Many unforeseen challenges will require a diverse array of stakeholders to collaboratively address.  You will need the ability to quickly identify and address these challenges to maintain the project cadence.

You will have a typical schedule during normal business hours.  But there may be occasional operational constraints to have meetings in the evening or on the weekends.  Meetings outside of normal business hours will be typically scheduled well in advance.

Responsibilities*

  • You will lead a cross functional team of clinical and support staff
  • You will develop and deliver presentations a wide array of stakeholders
  • Apply supply chain mathematical concepts to usage and purchase data
  • Analyze data for the purpose of informing strategy and decision-making for inventory management activities
  • Analyze existing business processes and logic in the various functional areas within purchasing, inventory and warehouse operations through personal observation and user interaction
  • Recommend workable method and procedural improvements based on supporting data and information
  • You will oversee and assist with the building of clean room supply carts
  • You will need the ability to problem solve independently

Required Qualifications*

  • Utilizes Microsoft business tools to complete tasks: Excel, Power Point, Word, and an electronic mail system (i.e. Outlook) in a network environment
  • Supports the development and delivery of presentations through the use of PowerPoint and other applicable media
  • Utilizes strong written and oral communication skills including public speaking
  • A minimum of 2 years of inventory control experience

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Proactive, attentive to detail, work with a sense of urgency and be able to overcome obstacles to meet schedule requirements
  • Ability to figure out processes necessary to get things done
  • Has the ability to synthesize information across multiple data sources
  • Is well-organized, able to establish priorities, meet deadlines, manage multiple projects and function with minimal supervision
  • Has excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with people in all disciplines and at all levels of an organization through process and data knowledge
  • Completes work with a high level of accuracy
  • Utilizes experience in Healthcare or other Industry Supply Chain Operations 
  • Is familiar with inventory management processes and can apply knowledge base
