- Assist attending physicians as the primary administrative support in non-physician activities.
- Bridge gaps in between the inpatient and outpatient settings, maximizing patient and physician satisfaction.

As part of the healthcare team, you will need to support multiple Internal Medicine attending hospitalist physicians on the inpatient units, coordinating all non-physician tasks directly related to patient care.

These tasks include:
- Inpatient responsibilities: communication with referring physicians, ancillary services, nursing, and families as needed and appropriate. This potentially includes participation in work and discharge rounds. All tests, studies and appointments arranged within the hospital are also the primary management responsibility of the CA.
- Bridging the gap between inpatient and outpatient setting: enhancing both patient and physician satisfaction by ensuring uninterrupted continuum of care. This may require coordination of follow-up studies and appointments either personally or with our online discharge appointment tool, which may require close coordination with the MLINE group in terms of coordination of discharge issues. Obtaining test results and records as needed from referring hospitals, outside physicians and/or ancillary services. Prescriptions, referrals and ancillary procedures are other examples of responsibilities that fall in this category.
- Commitment to quality improvement. Monitoring, identifying and being involved in improving clear system issues. Data collection and maintaining a database may be part of these responsibilities.
- Independent capacity to complete a detailed list of tasks. Identifies work needs and determines task priorities without frequent oversight to the satisfaction of physicians and patients in a timely fashion. The ability to complete multiple high priority items in a timely and thorough fashion is crucial.
- Maintains good rapport and cooperative relationships. Must be able to work well with multiple types of people from different backgrounds, both patients and physicians.

Required Qualifications*


High school diploma with considerable progressively responsible experience.  Must have strong computer skills along with exceptional written and verbal / interpersonal skills. Must be proficient using Microsoft Outlook and experience with MiChart. Experience in a clinical setting, either inpatient or outpatient. Strong organizational skills and the ability to successfully complete multiple tasks within establishes and changing deadlines is required. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.  Attention to detail is essential. 

Desired Qualifications*

Associate' degree in a health science field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary. Must have demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, as well as organizational skills, problem solving skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Efficiency in a fast paced clinical environment. Ability to successfully interact with diverse groups of people, including physicians, nurses, patients and families. Excellent computer skills.
