Responsibilities*

Duties: Provide direct patient care under direct supervision of the RN. Provide personal hygiene to patients. Procedures to perform include but are not limited to: collect specimens, perform trach care, intermittent straight catheterization, and measure blood glucose using a glucometer. Measure, report and record vital signs, (abnormal results reported to RN). Weigh patients daily, change sterile dressings as needed and stocking. Quality control checks on equipment used in the ICU. Assist in keeping environment free from clutter. Post mortem care per policy.

Training would involve working 40 hours/week for 4 weeks.

Required Qualifications*

Must be able to perform a wide range of physical activities which include moving, transporting and positioning patients and equipment as well as constantly positioning self to provide patient care and related duties. No lifting restrictions.

Six to twelve months of prior direct patient care experience.

Desired Qualifications*

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively under direct supervision of RN. Demonstrated good attendance record. Demonstrated time management skills. Course work in allied health, including basic science and math course.

Work Schedule

Hours/Week: variable (0-40 hours/week depending on open shifts).
Shift/Hours: 8 and 12 hour shifts on night/day shifts, Monday-Friday and weekends.
