Help support the Network Systems Support (NSS) group as they develop and maintain the network infrastructure at the University. This includes both wired and wireless connections, classrooms, data centers, labs and office spaces located around campus
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Responsible for maintaining an overall inventory of all communication closets at the University.
Responsible for maintaining and cleaning all communication closets at the University.
Responsible for network related helpdesk tickets.
Assist full time staff with various job duties around campus as needed.
Assist with network activations and/or network moves.
Assist with new equipment install or removal of hardware equipment.
Assist with wireless troubleshooting including installation and removal of Access Points.
Maintain detailed records of network activations on campus
**Must be current University of Michigan – Flint student.
Must demonstrate basic networking knowledge including VLAN’s and subnetting.
Must be well organized.
Must be dependable.
Demonstrated experience supporting Windows and/or Mac desktop/laptop PC’s.
Familiar with MS Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat products.
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with a commitment to providing excellent customer service to a diverse group of faculty, staff, students and guests.
Ability to prioritize assignments and work accurately under pressure of deadlines with frequent interruptions.
Advanced network, routing or VPN knowledge.
Enrolled in current Computer Science course(s) with an interest in networking.
Work some evenings or weekends as needed.
Occasionally lift heavy objects.
Climb and perform work while on ladders.
Perform duties while sitting, standing or stooping.
Use tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity.
