Job Summary


Position Description 

Position:          Building Manager

Reports to:      Conferences and Events Program Manager

General Responsibilities:

Maintain Customer Relations; Provide guidance to fellow student workers; Assist Public Safety with weather/fire emergencies; Ensure proper room setup/cleanliness

Specific Duties:

  1. Open and lock rooms as needed
  2. Assist with weather and fire emergencies
  3. Enforce Safety, University and Department policies
  4. Maintain customer relations
  5. Ensure proper event set-ups
  6. Ensure rooms are clean and that all equipment is functioning correctly
  7. Provide information to students, faculty, staff, and visitors regarding policies, programs, and services
  8. Perform routine tasks related to programs, services and equipment
  9. Assist with room cleaning/set-ups where necessary
  10. At beverage service events, assist bartenders by stocking bar supplies when needed, monitoring alcohol consumption and assisting Manager on Duty
  11. Post room cards and event signs on announcement boards before closing building
  12. Assist in opening/closing UCEN
  13. Be first line of contact for student set-up workers and help set priorities
  14. Be aware of building and note any needed equipment/building repairs

Required Qualifications*

1. Must be a UM-Flint student
2. Ability to relate well with students, faculty, staff, and visitors
3. AV experience a plus
4. Ability to provide high quality customer service under varying conditions
5. Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends
6. Ability to work under minimal supervision
7. 6 months supervisory experience or ability to demonstrate skills
