Looking for a highly motivated, competent and skilled synthetic organic and medicinal chemist with extensive research and development experience in organic chemistry to join a laboratory focused on discovery, design and development of small-molecules as new molecularly targeted therapies for cancer.
The candidates should have expertise in different methodologies used in syntheses of small and complex molecules, design and syntheses of biologically active molecules and their analogs, optimizing synthetic process. They should demonstrate skills in various analytical and preparative techniques including thin-layer chromatography, flash column chromatography, HPLC, NMR, LC-MS, IR, recrystallization, as well as to manage hazardous waste, organize chemical inventory, and searching scientific databases (Scifinder).
Prior lab experience in the field of drug discovery particularly skills in multi-step synthesis, SAR, structure-based design is highly preferred. It is expected that the candidate has ability to work independently, as well as to be part of a multidisciplinary team, to collect and tabulate data, publish and present results, as well as to participate in the training of graduate students in a research laboratory setting. Ph.D. in synthetic organic chemistry or medicinal chemistry. Evidence of scholarly ability (record of publication in peer-reviewed journals, etc.)
