Plan, develop and manage content for website and publications; promote Liberal Arts education, including updating forms and content, postings, etc., to support regular communication and projects within the College of Arts and Sciences.  Develop and deploy online surveys on behalf of the College.

Collaborate and coordinate marketing strategies for programs and initiatives across the College of Arts and Sciences, including creating social, visual, and news content for CAS and UM-Flint use, and outreach/development of potential stories with faculty, alumni, and students.

Monitor, guide and maximize the public awareness of the College of Arts and Sciences and its many activities and initiatives, including drafting the College’s “News & Notes,” “Alumni Newsletter,” materials for outreach and other efforts, planning and supporting CAS events, swag, assisting Deans and office staff.

Serve as a liaison between all of the departments within the College of Arts and Sciences and other university offices as assigned.  Within the College, provide leadership and internal support for departments regarding websites, social, materials, and events that may involve working with staff/faculty to plan and execute events, promotion, photography, social media.  External to the College, represent CAS across the university by attending meetings and advocating for CAS’s role as a university leader with UCOM, Development, Alumni Relations, Admissions, Strategic Planning, etc.

Other projects as assigned

This position will have dotted- line reporting to UCOM and Marketing.

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communication or related discipline.
  • Three to five years of relevant communications experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Intermediate understanding and experience with content management systems
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to relate to all constituents including faculty members, Program Directors, Department Chairs and Deans as a colleague
  • Must demonstrate understanding and must possess a “global” view of Higher Education and the Liberal Arts
  • Deadline oriented – meets or completes work before deadlines, without close supervision

Desired Qualifications*

  • Master’s Degree
  • Proven strong work ethic and commitment to excellence
  • Deep knowledge of the University of Michigan – Flint or demonstrated curiosity to learn about it
