Job Summary

The Michigan Society of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery (MSTCVS) Cardiac Surgery Quality Collaborative is currently seeking a Clinical Info Analyst Sr. The Clinical Outcomes Coordinator supervises the institutional processes related to data abstraction, monitoring, validation, analyses, reporting, and submission, associated with clinical performance data collected for the MSTCVS database including the Society of Thoracic Surgery (STS) adult cardiac and general thoracic surgery databases, The STS/ACC TVT Registry, and PERForm Registry.

Responsibilities*

Conducting quality audits and monitoring data accuracy of the clinical data abstractors at all of the participating centers. Teaching and educating MSTCVS/STS coordinators clinical aspects of data collection resulting in appropriate interpretation and collection of data variables. Reviewing and assessing all new data abstraction changes and educating clinical data abstractors to new definitions and criteria for abstraction.   Participating in the planning and presentations during the MSTCVS quarterly and outreach meetings. Work with project managers and director to determine agenda and goals of meetings.  Educating participants on quality improvement methodologies related to outcomes and monitoring of quality improvement efforts.

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor’s degree in a health science discipline is required.
  • A minimum of five years’ cardiovascular or general thoracic surgery experience and/or exposure to STS data registries. 
  • Experience participating in quality improvement efforts. 
  • Ability to communicate skillfully and concisely in writing and verbally. 
  • Demonstrates ability to work in a team environment with effective leadership skills.
  • Demonstrates ability to work independently, to meet deadlines efficiently, to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and to be highly self-motivated. 
  • Applicants must be willing to travel both in Michigan as well as to participating centers outside Michigan.

Desired Qualifications*

Five years’ experience with STS Databases and or cardiothoracic surgery experience; one year STS/TVR Registry experience or cardiac cath lab TAVR team clinical experience.  Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Work Schedule

40 per week, full-time
Days / Monday-Friday / Some weekends required
Hours and schedule will vary based on audits, site visits, and quarterly meeting schedule
