The Department of Cardiac Surgery, Basic Sciences Division, at the University of Michigan is recruiting a full-time research investigator. The focus of the lab is to investigate the mechanism of cardiovascular disease.

The applicant is required to function in an independent fashion and be responsible of his/her own research projects, running the lab, mentoring postdocs and students. The successful candidate will be expected to be proficient at scientific writing, and be able to prepare research papers and grant applications as well as present results. While funding is currently available for the position, the candidate will be strongly encouraged to apply for his/her own funding.
The candidate must have a doctoral degree (preferred Ph.D.) in biomedical sciences. A minimum of 3 years of experience after Ph.D. training working on the vascular biology and/or stem cells is required. A record of scholarly acheivement is required - publications in peer-reviewed journals.
Familiar with bioinformatics, basic molecular and cell biology techniques, and in vivo mouse model studies. Additional expertise in stem cell biology and vascular biology is a plus.
