Job Summary

The main focus of our laboratory research are adrenal diseases and tumors, particularly genetic predisposition and pathophysiology. The main focus of research for this post-doctoral fellow will be research on genetic predisposition to primary aldosteronism. The post-doctoral fellow will be expected to lead the research project together with the PI. While experience in adrenal or endocrine research would be preferable a solid background in molecular biology and ideally next generation sequencing and/or electrophysiology would be appreciated. However, graduates from related fields that would like to explore their interest in adrenal tumors, tumor genetics and endocrine fellowship are welcome to apply. 

Responsibilities*

  • This position requires a motivated and independently functioning individual, who embraces the responsibility of managing their research project. The individual should be highly collaborative and interested to work in our highly collaborative adrenal research environment at the University of Michigan and worldwide. The applicant should have a special interest in translational aspects of research.

  • The individual will be responsible for all aspects of their research project. The applicant will be required to conduct the following:
  •  planning and conduction of experimental studies
  • detailed data collection and documentation
  • review of primary literature in order to critically review their own results
  • communication and discussion of research activities (plans, results and next steps) with PI
  • employ in collaborative research
  • interest in learning new methods
  • writing of reviews and original papers

Required Qualifications*

PhD or MD degree in biological, or medical sciences.
Experience with translational research is preferred, and good leadership skills.
Must have excellent interpersonal and communications skills, both oral and written.
Proficiency in basic laboratory technologies – cloning, PCR, transfection, lentiviral transduction, western blot, sequencing, cell culture etc.

Desired Qualifications*

Additional experience in NGS would be preferred
Experience in electrophysiology and analysis of calcium signaling would be welcome
