The Call Center Team provides prompt, courteous customer service to patients and referring providers, through the facilitation of various call center functions including triage, maintenance of clinic schedules, appointments and health record management. Responds to a high volume of telephone inquiries following Michigan Medicine and departmental scripts and procedures. Requires flexibility in all aspects of work assignments.

Responsible for providing complex clerical services.
Demonstrates customer excellence in answering incoming phones
Schedule appointments with multiple providers/disciplines and diagnostic areas.
Schedules patient appointments and procedures in a timely and accurate manner with multiple providers/disciplines and diagnostic areas and informs patients of any necessary preparation in accordance with established guidelines.
Coordinate with other department schedulers to optimize use of service block time at other units across Michigan Medicine.
Utilize different databases, registries and flow sheets for the different programs and maintain MiChart Grids.
Manage daily work ques and along with supervisor set work standard.
Accurate data entry and appropriate distribution of patient information (appointments).
Prepares patient itineraries, assembles and mails patient information packets.
Efficiently performs general office duties, including faxing, imaging documents, mail sorting and delivery.
Additional duties as assigned.
High School diploma or GED.
0 – 2 years of experience, including some customer service experience preferred.
Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work well within a team setting.
Demonstrates active listening, written, verbal and information technology skills.
Experience working within a large, complex health care setting, scheduling patient appointments.
Basic medical terminology.
Familiarity with UMHS electronic medical record systems.
Ability to multi-task and work in a high volume area.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Familiarity with Michigan Medicine electronic medical record systems is preferred.
Knowledge of University policies and procedures.
Monday through Friday, roughly 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
