As a division within Health Information & Technology Services (HITS), Education and Training is responsible for services and technology that support education and research programs in the Medical School, as well as supporting on-going learning in all hospitals and clinics within Michigan Medicine. These services are administered through the design and delivery (classroom and electronic) of professional development training, end user documentation, and support for applications such as the Epic electronic health record and mandatory eLearning education. Education and Training also supports foundational systems, such as the institutional learning management system (MLearning), along with other tools that support the medical education degree-granting programs and continuing education.

Responsibilities*

This role specifically involves being part of a team responsible for the customer/ business relationship as well as the identification, management, and support of the IT systems and services for the Michigan Medicine Education mission. The candidate must be competent to work at the highest technical level of all phases of applications systems analysis and programming activities. Work assignments include working collaboratively with diverse audiences, supporting multiple platforms and integrations, as well as working across diverse teams. Additionally, the candidate:

  • Provides technical solutions and accurate time estimates for tasks, identifies impacted teams, and notifies management of potential risks and issues.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot education applications and systems which may include monitoring network, server, and system connections.
  • Design, develop, configure, test, document and implement data integration and data reporting solutions for education applications, systems, and customers.
  • Actively coordinates with team members, customers, other groups, and vendors to effectively resolve issues, incidents and requests.
  • Stays current with relevant advances in technologies.

May require on-call availability and may require working during non-business hours and on weekends.

Required Qualifications*

Requirements for Intermediate Position: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum two years demonstrated experience in a systems analysis/programming/ administration in a large-scale, enterprise environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with relational database systems.
  • Demonstrated experience writing complex queries in SQL.
  • Demonstrated experience with data integration methods, including web services and APIs.
  • Demonstrated skills in data analysis and process modeling tools and techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines while working in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements for Associate Position: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
  • 1-year experience in a systems analysis/programming/ administration in a large-scale, enterprise environment.
  • Experience with relational database systems.
  • Experience writing complex queries in SQL.
  • Experience with data integration methods, including web services and APIs.
  • Skills in data analysis and process modeling tools and techniques.
  • Ability to meet deadlines while working in a fast-paced environment.

Desired Qualifications*

  • Experience with the medical education field.
  • Experience with SQL Server and Oracle database.
  • Experience using a distributed version control like Git and build/integration tools like Maven and Jenkins.
  • Experience using reporting tools such as Crystal reports, Tableau and/or Business Objects.
  • Experience with front-end web development using HTML, CSS, JavaScript or similar.
