The department of Dermatology seeks a Research Process Coordinator to work with faculty in coordinating the administrative research process for submitting contract and grant proposals and monitoring awarded funds and to perform other administrative functions for the department.
- This team member will support the timely submission of PAF, budget, and other non-technical forms for submission to various sponsors including NIH, foundations, and industry sponsors.
- Pre-award activities include providing support to departmental faculty with the development, preparation and submission of grants and contracts, including, but not limited to the preparation of budgets and supporting documentation, review of proposal documents for compliance with University and sponsor guidelines, and ensuring timely routing of proposals through the institutional approval process.
- Research and prepare pre-award budgets, including budget narratives and justifications, and coordinating sub-award/sub-contract grant submissions, including coordinating with collaborating faculty departments/institutions
- Review sponsor RFP and ensure budget conformance to sponsor guidelines.
- Post award activities include providing support to the faculty in re-budgeting, report preparation, and renewals/extensions. The Research Process Coordinator is responsible for continuous communication with faculty to ensure that effort on projects is being taken/reported appropriately
- Maintaining appropriate communications with faculty, college administrators, ORSP and Sponsored Programs on pre and post-award activity is essential.
- Bachelor degree or equivalent plus 3-4 years of experience in grant administration or higher level financial activities.
- Prior experience with contract and grant administration, or relevant experience in comparable environment with tight regulations and compliance requirements required.
- Ability to interpret and apply guidelines and policies including Uniform
- Guidance budgeting restrictions and University sponsored research policies.
- Attention to detail, meeting deadlines and displaying a service-oriented attitude are essential.
- Must be knowledgeable of relevant University policies related to pre and post award research administration.
- Excellent communication skills, ability to multi-task and work well independently. Excellent attendance record.
- Must have the ability to work in a team environment and collaborate effectively with co-workers, providing excellent customer service.
- Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communication skills
- Mastery of Excel and comfort with changing technology essential.
- More than 5 years of pre- and post-award research administration experience in an Academic Medical Center
- Prior experience with federal funding agencies strongly preferred.
- Experience with electronic proposal submission systems, particularly eResearch and Grants.gov.
- Experience with clinical trials and conducting study schedule feasibility analysis
