Cardiovascular Nuclear Medicine, within the Department of Radiology, is seeking a dynamic individual that will perform diagnostic exercise and pharmacologic stress exams in conjunction with Nuclear Cardiology imaging applications. Exercises professional judgment in the performance of this service following the Code of Conduct of the appropriate certification board (ACSM). Provides appropriate patient care following the Radiology Gold Service Excellence guidelines to achieve successful completion of the procedure. Contributes as a team member to enhance job stewardship mindful of Internal and External customer service standards.
1. Perform and monitor diagnostic stress and pharmacologic exams according to established protocols as part of Myocardial Perfusion Imaging in Nuclear medicine which includes:
*patient 12 lead EKG preparation
*placement of IV catheters for pharmacologic
*completing associated worksheets
*contacting scheduled patients to explain the procedure and inform them of any preparations
*follow Radiation Safety protocols for the patient and self.
*utilizes nuclear medicine equipment following proper protocols.
2. Understands and applies Guest relation skills following the Patient and Families First Principles.
3. Works consistently as a team member willing to assist everyone, crossing modalities when needed.
4. Follows Infection Control practices utilizing aseptic techniques, observing Universal precautions, and patient safety standards.
5. Assists with the education of Nuclear Medicine Technology Students and/or health care professionals and participates in the division’s quality improvement program for the area.
6. Possesses a positive work ethic to enhance teamwork in a fast paced environment and is accountable for actions.
7. All other related duties.
Identifies and enters data into the Radiology Information System and the PACs and Hospital Information System.
Monitors the Order Entries for all patient exams.
Educates and Monitors mandatory competencies for patient safety, infection control, fire safety, corporate compliance, and patient confidentiality. Including additional assigned educational modules for self-improvement.
Maintains ACLS Certification and ACSM Registry.
The ability to meet the Exercise Physiologist professional role expectations defined as, critical thinking skills, interpersonal behavioral and social skills including communication, physical mobility (pushing, pulling, reaching and lifting up to 50 pounds) and motor skills demonstrating gross and fine motor abilities, sensory abilities of speech, hearing, touch and visual observation, and cognitive attention for patient safety.
*Bachelor's degree in exercise physiology, exercise science or a related field
*Certification by the American College of Sports Medicine as an Exercise Test Technician or Exercise Specialist is required within one year of date of hire
*Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support
*General Computer experience
*Excellent customer service skills and ability to work successfully with patients
*Proven written and verbal communication skills
*Ability to work effectively in a team oriented environment
*Master's degree in exercise physiology, exercise science or a related field
*Experience in venipuncture for IV catheter placement
*Experience in clinical testing and evaluation
