Job Summary

The Office of Enrollment Management (OEM) furthers the mission of the University of Michigan by using a strategic and collaborative approach to recruiting and developing leaders and citizens who challenge the present and enrich the future. OEM carries out this work through four integrated departments that use data and analysis in innovative ways to inform decisions and develop processes that ensure the best possible experience for students, from prospect through graduation. These departments include the Offices of Undergraduate Admissions, Financial Aid, New Student Programs and Registrar. In addition to these departments, the OEM administrative unit houses central operating functions that provide support including human resources, budget/finance, data and research, enrollment technologies and marketing communications.

 

The Director of Organizational Effectiveness and Delivery will direct change initiatives related to complex projects and facilitate transitions for essential business processes and/or technical systems. This position will analyze and initiate ongoing recommendations to improve the organization’s effectiveness, culture and climate. As a member of the OEM Executive Team, the ideal candidate will thrive in a transformational organization ready for change, successfully partner with others and focus on the people side of change initiatives to meet objectives on time and on budget by increasing employee adoption and usage.

Responsibilities*

  • Identify and facilitate change initiatives related to business processes and technologies in partnership with business process owner. Create strategies to drive adoption and proficiency of changes within the organization structure.
  • Analyze complex data and initiate ongoing recommendations to improve the organization effectiveness, culture, climate and leadership.
  • Develop project strategies and plans, including stakeholder assessment, communications, leadership alignment, change readiness, capability transfer, and end-user training.
  • Oversee team execution in accordance with project plans, tools, and methods, and support resource planning and acquisition.
  • Develop short and long-term goals, key performance indicators (KPI), objectives, and develop and execute against annual operational plan in collaboration with OEM Leadership.
  • Lead and facilitate leadership meetings in visioning and strategy including mission, vision and values efforts for a large organization.
  • Lead and facilitate meetings with staff and other stakeholders to ensure an understanding of the current organizational culture, and jointly develop a change adoption plan.
  • Facilitate change management activities with cross-functional team members to understand and ensure adoption of the business transformation.
  • Communicate impact of business process changes and outcomes. Provide input, document requirements and support the design and delivery of training programs.
  • Support and engage senior leaders. Serve as consultant to front-line managers and supervisors as they assist their direct reports through culture and business process transitions.
  • Facilitate business process mapping exercises throughout the organization for workforce optimization and to better align resources.
  • Collaborate with human resources director and senior leadership on organizational design; may assist in redefining roles and responsibilities.
  • Support design, development, delivery and management of communications. May develop presentations, marketing and communication materials regarding change.
  • May provide functional direction to a team and/or individuals within the organization that provide project management support.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.
  • Seven years of organizational development, project management or other related experience with large-scale organizational change efforts.
  • Proven ability to leverage and integrate technology in supporting business process changes.
  • Experience with project management software and issue tracking.
  • Working knowledge of organizational development principles, methodologies and tools.
  • Acute business acumen and understanding of large organizational issues and challenges.
  • Flexible and adaptable, able to work effectively and produce results in ambiguous situations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to influence others toward a common vision or goal.
  • Exceptional communication and active listening skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with diverse populations at all levels in an organization.

Desired Qualifications*

  • Master’s degree in organizational development, change management or relevant field.
  • Project/Change management certification.
  • Related experience in a decentralized, complex higher education institution is preferred.
  • Expertise with the Technolutions Slate CRM or other CRM systems.
  • Prior professional experience with Oracle applications including Financials, Human Resources, and Student Administration.
