Job Summary

The Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking a highly motivated Research Technician to join the Greineder lab. Our lab
studies targeted drug delivery to the vascular endothelium - designing, synthesizing, and testing targeted biotherapeutics and drug
carriers. Our overarching goal is to develop novel technologies capable of delivering therapeutic cargo to endothelial cells as a
means of altering vascular function and improving disease outcomes. Through a variety of collaborations, we test our novel agents
in realistic models of human disease, with an eye towards the creation of new intellectual property and translation to the clinic.
Projects in the laboratory involve a wide array of techniques -- from protein engineering (molecular biology, protein production, and
purification) to nanoparticle formulation, bioconjugation, HPLC, mammalian cell culture, flow cytometry, and quantitative radiotracing
for determinination of pharmacokinetics and tissue biodistribution. The lab environment is highly collaborative and all contributions
are honored with co-authorship. Those looking to do real drug design and translational pharmacology are encouraged to apply.


Primary responsibilities will be planning and conducting bench experiments and meticulous
documentation. Analysis of data, typically with the assistance of the PI, will also be expected.
The technician will have some responsibilities for lab maintenance -- e.g. participating in lab
safety self-inspections, identifying/ordering supplies and key reagents, etc. The applicant
must work effectively in a team setting, be able to communicate well, and keep clear records.

Required Qualifications*

Bachelor’s degree and past employment or work experience for no less than
2 years as a full time research technician working in molecular biology.
Excellent multitasking skills. Prior supervision of less-experienced students
and technicians.

Desired Qualifications*

Bachelors’s degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, biology, engineering (e.g., BME, ChemE) or related
scientific degree, with 2 or more years of experience in laboratory research. Previous experience with molecular
biology (cloning), mammalian or insect cell culture, protein production and/or purification, flow cytometry,
microscopy, handling of lab animals, and animal surgery are all preferred. A strong foundation in math (ability to
calculate dilutions, familiarity with scientific notation, etc) is a must. The successful candidate will have a strong
work ethic, collaborative attitude, and excellent organizational and time management skills. He or she should be
enthusiastic about developing new expertise and taking some degree of ownership over a project or projects within
the lab.

Work Schedule

Full time Monday thru Friday. Flexible schedule preferred.
