Job Description: The College of Education, Health and Human Services (CEHHS) is seeking applications for a lecturer position in the Department of Education for the Fall 2019 semester. The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching the class, EDD 480/481 and EDD 580/581 – Teaching Science in the Secondary Grades and Practicum. EDD 480/580 focuses on understanding the role of science in the secondary curriculum, consideration of best practices in science, exploration of national and state standards including the Next Generation Science Standards, and implementation of safe laboratory practices.
EDD 481/581-Practicum: Clinical experiences in a secondary science classroom. Activities include observations, small group work, individual student support, and large group instruction of at least one science lesson.
The selected candidate will be responsible for conducting all instructional duties of this course and supervising the practicum, including teaching, development of assignments, grading, holding office hours for student support, and maintaining a course page through the Canvas Learning Management System.
The position requires that the candidate have a doctoral degree in science education/related field or several years of related experience beyond a master’s degree. Candidates must have experience teaching science laboratory courses preferably at the high school level. Candidates should also have extensive knowledge of teaching grades 6-12 and preferably have recent teaching experience with those grade levels.
