Provide a wide variety of moderately to complex technical lab support, individually and/or together with other research personnel. Experimental procedures include RNA-cDNA isolation, qPCR, RT-PCR, protein isolation, Western Blot, Immunohistochemistry, fluorescent confocal imaging, immunoprecipitation, stem cell culture, FACS and viral work.

Maintain detailed records of all experiments and data, uploading to online servers. Coordinates data collection and screening and verifies the data. Conducts analysis of data, interprets and implements research methodology (with supervision from the PI and senior research staff).

Responsible for maintaining the lab supplies and coordinating general lab maintenance with senior lab personnel.

Trains and assists other lab members on techniques and research projects.

Required Qualifications*

The applicant must have a BS degree in Biology and at least 1 year of biomedical research experience and demonstrated research in cell culture, molecular work and biochemistry analysis. The applicant will also have to learn and train other lab personnel in techniques. The candidate is, therefore, a team-player, has a positive outlook and is motivated to carry out experiments by themselves as well as work with other lab members and the PI. Having the ability to multitask, organize the lab, being able to perform data processing, be detailed orientated, be meticulous in keeping track and continuously update things, have critical thinking, and have an excellent attendance record.  Excellent communication skills.

Desired Qualifications*

Prior experience with University of Michigan policies and procedures.  Previous experience with viral work and FACS analysis/sorting.

This position is with the School of Dentistry and the work address is located at the NCRC Bldg. 20, Room 334W 

Additional Information

This is a one(1)-year term appointment with possibility of one year-based renewals contingent upon performance and funding.
