Job Summary

Perform various support functions to support molecular genetic testing for use in the diagnosis and treatment of genetic diseases in a clinical laboratory: Receive, process, and store samples, order supplies, scan clinical folders.

NOTE: This is a part time position beginning March 29, 2019 and ending June 7, 2019 and the hours are Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm (one hour lunch).

Responsibilities*

Perform various support functions to support molecular genetic testing for use in the diagnosis and treatment of genetic diseases in a clinical laboratory: Receive, process, and store samples, order supplies, scan clinical folders.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Enter patient test information into the Laboratory Information System
  • Perform inventory and order lab reagents, commodities, and equipment
  • Perform routine laboratory equipment maintenance and cleaning
  • Prepare reagents and properly dispose of waste, reagents and reagent by-products
  • Prepare samples for molecular testing
  • Follow CLIA/CAP and other regulatory requirements

Required Qualifications*

  • BS in Genetics, Molecular Biology, Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field of biological science
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of our team
  • Excellent attendance, ability to prioritize appropriately, and exercise good judgment
  • Competent computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel and willingness to learn specialized software packages

Desired Qualifications*

  • Familiarity with University administration, policies and procedures 

    Evidence of qualifications is provided through previous employment, references and performance evaluations.  

Background Screening
