Job Summary

Department Director leads a group defined as a distinct administrative entity within the organization which may contain divisions, and reports to the executive level of the organization or to a department chair. Plans and directs the administrative and operational activities. Develops and implements short and long-range goals and objectives. Responsible for allocation of human, space, fiscal and material resources. Directs the preparation of budgets, reports, financial analyses, and statements and maintain operational records. The primary duty of employees in this classification is the management of a customarily recognized department or subdivision, including the supervision of three or more full-time equivalent employees every week. Direction is over a permanent status-continuing function, not a collection of employees assigned to complete a project. Management duties include interviewing, selecting and training of employees; setting and adjusting their rates of pay and hours of work; planning and directing their work; appraising their productivity and efficiency for the purpose of recommending promotions or other changes in their status; handling their complaints and grievances and disciplining them when necessary. Management responsibilities include the authority to hire, fire, or promote assigned employees or make recommendations that are given particular weight. Employees have impact on budgeting, controlling costs, planning, scheduling, and procedural change. Under FLSA, incumbents in this position meet the criteria for exempt status.

Responsibilities*

  • Execute the strategic direction for Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital
  • Provide administrative oversight and direction to all components of surgical services, clinical operations and clinical support teams.
  • Plans, develops, implements and evaluates performance improvement to support CW mission, strategic initiative and operational priorities
  • Develop a deep understanding of clinical operations including strategic direction, budget and financial metrics, current and future program changes and quality initiatives.
  • Develops and maintains strong working relationships with physicians to achieve collaborative operational, strategic and quality initiatives.
  • Participate on the leadership team for VVWH administration
  • Lead and participate in identified committee meetings
  • Lead and participate in lean initiatives

Required Qualifications*

  • Master’s degree in Health Care Administration, Business Administration, Nursing or other clinical field.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in progressive management or administrative experience at a strategic level managing clinical operations.
  • Demonstrated skill in project management and process redesign
  • Documented strong interpersonal communication skills and achievements in leading teams
  • Ability to work effectively across organizational lines and with diverse people
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment where high energy, resiliency and attention to detail are required.
  • Proficient use of word processing, spreadsheets and database

Desired Qualifications*

  • Experience with Children's and Women's services in a health care system

Background Screening
