What You'll Do
The successful candidate is driven to become a subject matter expert in UM student record data, where you’ll work with staff, faculty, and students from across campus. This position leads the student administrative and survey research targeted email process, supports the ad hoc student data needs of the campus community, assists with official reporting, and contributes to ongoing NCAA student athlete academic eligibility certification. The successful candidate is curious and analytical, exceptionally concerned with data quality, and has the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Headed by the Vice Provost for Enrollment Management, the Office of Enrollment Management (OEM) provides campus-wide leadership in executing the strategic recruitment, admission, enrollment, records management and student financial support functions for the university. OEM is committed to envisioning, creating, and sustaining an effort that will lead to the optimal academic, student, and staff experience through the development and implementation of data-driven strategies, collaborative partnerships, and sustained investments in technological resources and a talented and capable workforce. Our reporting units work strategically and synergistically in partnership with the undergraduate schools and colleges, leveraging expertise and best practices across the Offices of Admissions, New Student Programs, Financial Aid, and Registrar.

40% - Lead the student administrative and survey research targeted email process. Administer Proper Use policies and create population files for each email, working closely with ITS. Assist ITS with defining requirements, testing, communication, and training for system enhancements
40% - Deliver high quality ad hoc queries and data products on request to group of varied customers
10% - Assist with completion of required federal IPEDS and state enrollment reporting
5% - Assist with management of access to LARC, the research-focused student record data set
5% - Assist with student athlete academic eligibility certification and NCAA reporting as needed
- Bachelor’s degree
- Two years of related experience, including query/report writing, and data analysis
- Demonstration of strong analytical and logical foundation
- Working understanding of relational database technologies, query tools, and data integration methodologies
- Proficiency with MS Access and Excel
- Ability to meet multiple competing deadlines with excellent attention to detail
- Strong ability to work independently
- Dedication to quality customer service
- Knowledge of the academic operations at the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor
- Experience with Oracle/Peoplesoft Student systems, Business Objects, SQL Developer, and Tableau
- Working knowledge of FERPA
