The Michigan Medicine Office of Counseling and Workplace Resilience seeks a Faculty and Staff Counselor to join Michigan Medicine in its priority to improve the work life and well-being of all faculty and staff and the organization. This individual will provide psychological care in the form of short-term counseling, coaching, consultation, and debriefing services. The individual filling this role will collaborate with other well-being programs and partners in providing best practices and evidence-based interventions that support a culture that prioritizes well-being and inspires engagement.

- Short-term individual and couples counseling
- Facilitate support groups or psycho-educational groups
- Perform a broad range of clinical services using evidence-based therapeutic methods for resolution of psychological and/or occupational problems using assessment, evaluation, diagnosis, and intervention
- Establish linkages and provide referrals to appropriate campus, community, and other resources
- Identify educational needs, develop and deliver workshops, classes, and presentations on subjects such as psychological health, grief/loss, stress, resilience, cultivating positive emotions, self-compassion, burnout prevention, compassion fatigue, and building high-quality relationships
- Deliver proactive psycho-educational outreach and consultation services to faculty and staff on matters related to mental health and well-being
- Develop connections and collaborative relationships within the academic healthcare environment to promote positive workplace cultures
- Provide consultation to directors, leaders, managers, supervisors, and chairs to assess emergent and urgent situations and make recommendations for solutions, case management, referral and follow-up
- Provide mitigating interventions when critical incidences affect faculty and staff of Michigan Medicine by providing immediate crisis management, debriefing, and trauma-informed services
- Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential record-keeping of clinical activity
- Represent the Office of Counseling and Workplace Resilience both within and outside the University through presentations, articles, and serving on task forces as needed
- Maintain highest standards of confidentiality and adhere to relevant professional standards, ethics, and quality of care

- Master’s degree or doctoral degree in mental health counseling, psychology, social work, or related field with at least 4 years’ post-graduate clinical experience
- Licensed or license-eligible in field of practice in the state of Michigan
- Experience in utilizing a range of empirically supported brief counseling interventions
- Experience in development and facilitation of groups
- Experience working in an employee assistance program and/or academic health system
- Experience in the development and implementation of well-being and resilience programs tailored to clinician well-being
- Experience in public speaking
- Demonstrated ability to mobilize resources, create synergy, and work trans-disiplinarily within an organization to promote and sustain a culture of safety and well-being
- Knowledge of national trends in health care, health and well-being, practices in mental health, substance use disorders, positive psychology, and ability to apply theories and mandates in practice
- Knowledge of organizational and consultative psychology and the ability to implement its applications in a health care system
- Demonstrated skill in culturally competent clinical and programming services that serve our diverse community
- Knowledge of health inequities, social determinants of health, and the specific health needs of vulnerable or at-risk populations
