Mission Statement

Public Allies Metro Detroit is an AmeriCorps program in partnership with the University of Michigan-Dearborn's Office of Metropolitan Impact. We seek potential Allies to fill this position.

Public Allies are members from the community interested in social change and transformation. Public Allies will work with nonprofit organization in the metro Detroit region to help build and expand organizational capacity. Public Allies will have a range of responsibilities including community organizing, capacity building, community engagement, need assessments, creating community partnerships, collaborating with other organizations, assisting with community programming, and other community based projects. Public Allies will also be required to participate in weekly leadership development traing. Duties will vary depending on the needs and mission of the nonprofit organization.

Required Qualifications*

Per AmeriCorps requirements, all potential participants must have the following:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Be at least 17 years of age
