Responsibilities*

The Department of Epidemiology at the University of Michigan, School of Public Health invites applications for a Research Track Faculty position in the area of infectious disease epidemiology. Appointment as a Research Investigator, Assistant Research Scientist, or Research Assistant Professor will be made commensurate with experience. The new faculty member will join an active and productive research team, led by Dr. Aubree Gordon, focused on the transmission of and susceptibility to infectious diseases with an emphasis on influenza and other respiratory pathogens. They will play a lead role in directing research projects both on primary data collection in the field and/or laboratory, and analysis of data. Successful applicants should have a Ph.D. level training and research background in infectious diseases, field studies, laboratory studies (immunology or molecular biology) and/or applications and excellent writing skills. The position offers ample opportunities for publication, interdisciplinary collaboration, grant writing, interactions with students and postdoctoral fellows, and career development. Spanish proficiency (the research team’s fieldwork is located in Latin America) is a plus as is prior work on respiratory pathogens and mathematical modeling. Our Department of Epidemiology is home to more than 40 highly interdisciplinary, internationally recognized faculty members whose research encompasses a broad range of epidemiologic disciplines. The Department has large and highly successful training programs at both the masters and doctoral level.
