Job Summary

We are looking for a personable, self-motivated and detail-oriented team player to help with follow-up activities for a federally-funded research study focused on substance use and aggression. This study is conducted out of the Hurley Medical Center Emergency Department in Flint, Michigan. Key job responsibilities include contacting and collecting data from study participants, maintaining study records, administering time line follow-back assessments in-person and remote interventions using Motivational Interviewing, and helping to develop internal study documentation. Regular communication with study coordinator.

Responsibilities*

Identify and approach potential participants entering the Hurley Medical Center ER for a federally funded research study. Consent participants, and conduct brief clinical interventions using motivational interviewing and 30 day time line follow back with all eligible participants in the ED setting. Locate participants by phone contacts, letters and home visits to participants or other primary contacts as needed. Schedule and conduct remote therapy sessions in the office and surround Flint area. Utilize a tablet computer to administer survey, determine randomization, and conduct sessions in the ED and in the community. Document accurately flow of shifts, adhere to all recruitment procedures and communicate daily/weekly updates to study coordinator.

Required Qualifications*

Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Public Health, Social Work, or related health field.

Desired Qualifications*

Previous research experience, clinic/hospital work or volunteer experience, and knowledge of the research process is.

Work Schedule

Varying schedule of 8 hour shifts occurring on afternoons, evenings, and weekends

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act.
