Job Summary

We are in need of a research technician intermediate to work in the Department of Psychiatry, Neuropsychology Section as part of a study team investigating memory rehabilitation in older adults and those in the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease. The emphasis of this research position is on the administration of cognitive testing, structured memory rehabilitation, and non-invasive brain stimulation. Candidates will have the opportunity to work with fMRI acquisition and data analysis as determined appropriate by the study team. The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with faculty and staff in lab management.

Responsibilities*

Oversee and train research technician associates and students along with database management and analysis.  The candidate will be able to operate in a semi-independent manner to assist in clinical research and related projects.  It is also expected that the successful candidate will be able to administer and score standardized neuropsychological tests to research participants, memory rehabilitation, and non-invasive brain stimulation. The candidate will also assist with the creation of posters, papers, and presentations for scientific meetings. The candidate will handle other scientific administration and clerical activities as directed to support research projects.

Required Qualifications*

  • Ideal candidates will have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Cognitive Psychology or Neuroscience equivalent education and experience
  • A minimum of one year of related experience
  • Knowledge of or experience with database creation, management and analysis procedures is expected
  • Strong clinical skills and superior verbal and written communication are required
  • Candidates must have demonstrable knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access and preferably statistical analysis packages such as SAS and SPSS or other research laboratory programs

Desired Qualifications*

  • A minimum of two years research experience and knowledge of fMRI analysis are highly desirable
  • Experience in working with older adults is preferred
  • Proficiency in test administration and scoring is preferred

Work Schedule

Must be able and willing to flex regular work schedule to accomodate evening and weekend testing of research participants.

Additional Information

Must have reliable transportation since local travel will be expected.
