Job Summary

The University of Michigan School of Dentistry invites qualified applications and nominations for the position of Associate Chair-Prosthodontics, in the Department of Biologic and Materials Sciences & Prosthodontics (BMSP).

This is an outstanding opportunity for an associate professor or professor on the clinical track or tenure track. Prosthodontics incorporates faculty members in the clinical and basic sciences.  The Associate Chair will be responsible for leading Prosthodontics faculty members in support of the discipline of Prosthodontics in the DDS Program (didactic, pre- clinical and clinical), and for fostering the continued development of an outstanding graduate program in Prosthodontics.

Biologic and Materials Sciences & Prosthodontics is an inclusive, diverse, creative, and dynamic department with strong clinical and research faculty. The primary responsibility of the Associate Chair-Prosthodontics is to provide leadership of Prosthodontics to optimize operation. The specific responsibilities may include goal setting, financial stewardship, faculty development, enhancing educational programs, patient care, and sustaining departmental operation in the absence of the department Chair. Major research emphasis is on innovative approaches to care of patients with complex needs, and CAD/CAM technologies for crown & bridge and implants.

The successful candidate will possess a DDS/DMD and an MS in Prosthodontics, or equivalent degrees. Top candidates will have a reputation as a leader with outstanding and innovative clinical accomplishments, knowledge of key aspects of education in modern academic dentistry, and an understanding of the contributions of diversity to excellence in academic endeavors.

Work Locations

This position is located in the School of Dentistry at 1011 N. University Ave., Ann Arbor, Michigan.

The successful candidate will be appointed on the tenure or clinical track at the rank of professor or associate professor with a recruitment package commensurate with experience and credentials.
