Applications accepted from October 1, 2019 through March 1, 2020 for the 2020-21 fellowship Program year (7/1/2020 - 7/1/2021). To apply submit your CV or resume, Proof of graduation from or enrollment in an accredited PMHNP program with anticipated graduation date (college transcript), Copy of your unencumbered Registered Nurse license, and Supplemental letter of intent addressed to the program director: Dr. Constance Creech (explaining your reasons for wanting to pursue the fellowship, any special circumstances that qualify you for this fellowship that focuses on underserved populations in Flint Michigan, or other special circumstances that increase your likelihood of success in this program). Two letters of professional reference are also required and can be NP program faculty members and or current/ recent employers. Please have the recommenders address your ability or potential to practice as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and work in a collegial manner.
You will be required to submit proof of successful completion of NP certification exam and State of Michigan-License as an NP, prior to the start of the program on July, 1st. However, you may apply without these.

Advanced Practice Provider Training Fellow: Psychiatric Mental Health NP - 12 month paid fellowship opporutnity.
The School of Nursing (SON) at the University of Michigan-Flint is offering a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Fellowship (PMHNPF) program that provides the opportunity to receive advanced training with Flint Michigan based partners: Hurley Medical Center and Hamilton Community Center and others. Applicants are responsible for participating in the 12 month fellowship program as provided by the department. Assists in the diagnosis and treatment of patients, used standardized assessment tools and implements appropriate interventions. Collects and assists in interpretation of laboratory and other diagnostic tests. Requires the evaluation of various courses of action to treat patients and has the authority to make independent decisions regarding patients within their scope of practice. Primary activities and decision making are performed independently. May participate in research projects under supervision of a mentor. Will participate in didactic/ course instruction on various topics such as tele health, inter professional foundations, clinical practice/case studies, etc. to expand foundation as a psychiatric provider for underserved populations in Flint Michigan. Will complete a minimum of 1500 practice hours in both inpatient and outpatient settings, that include specialty rotations. This is an exempt position and incumbents in this position must meet the full criteria for exempt status: salary level, salary basis, and duties tests. Requires registration, certification, and licensure with appropriate agencies.
Applicants must either be enrolled in, and anticipating graduation from an accredited Psychiatric NP program that provides eligibility for FPMHNP board certification by May 2020 or have recently graduated from a program not more than 18 months ago.
Candidates must graduate and pass the national certification exam prior to the beginning of the program start date on July 1 2020. The fellow will be required to be credentialed and privileged and employment is contingent upon successful completion of this.
The University of Michigan-Flint fellowship is a 1-year contract with a $70,000 salary plus a generous benefit package that includes medical, prescription drug plan, dental, and paid time off.
