Job Summary

The Research Technician Associate will be responsible for full time data collection for the Simply Dinner Research Study. The Simply Dinner Research Study is a collaboration between Michigan State University and the University of Michigan. Data collection will take place within research participant homes in communities surrounding Ann Arbor, MI and Lansing, MI. Daily driving is required and access to a university vehicle will be provided.

This position conducts standardized research protocols with a diverse cohort of parents and preschoolers (ages 3-5 years) regarding family mealtimes. Parents and preschoolers are recruited through Head Start. These research protocols may occur in the early morning, late afternoon, or evening. Up to four evenings per week and occasional weekends may be required. The data collection procedures include a combination of video recorded protocols, questionnaire administration, obtaining mother and child height and weight measurements, and obtaining informed consent from research participants. Additional administrative tasks, such as maintenance of lab equipment and subject recruitment support will occur as needed.


Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, public health or related field is required. 
  • This position requires great attention to detail, outstanding organizational skills, and the ability to communicate clearly and build rapport with study participants.

This is a term limited position lasting one year.

Background Screening
