Job Summary

We are seeking a full-time data scientist to support ongoing clinical research in acute respiratory disease and other critical illness syndromes. The candidate will join a team of clinical research physicians, bioinformaticians, and computer scientists working on ongoing single and multi-center clinical studies and machine-learning research projects in critical care.

Responsibilities*

  • Develop pipelines for creating analytic datasets that are derived from electronic health records (vital signs, laboratory result, medication records, clinical notes, billing codes)
  • Perform simple to advanced SQL queries of institutional data warehouses
  • Develop and perform complex data merges, data cleaning procedures, data validation, and quality control procedures
  • Create and maintain documentation of data-analysis pipelines
  • Perform statistical and machine-learning analysis depending on the candidate’s interest and skill
  • Participate in regular multi-disciplinary research team meetings (physicians, bioinformaticians, computer scientists)
  • Contribute to research reports for manuscripts and conference presentations

Required Qualifications*

  • Completion of a master’s degree in bioinformatics, clinical informatics, information, statistics, computer science, or related fields by the start date
  • Fluency in SQL for performing simple to advanced complexity SQL queries of institutional data warehouses
  • Competence in at least one data management and statistical analysis program (python, R, Stata, SAS)
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy

Desired Qualifications*

  • 2-4 years of experience working on health-related data analysis projects
  • Familiarity using python unstructured data analysis (i.e. text data)
  • Experience working in Linux/Unix environments for research computing

Background Screening
