The Ganesh lab is seeking talented Postdoctoral Research Fellow candidates for human genetics studies of vascular disease. We are conducting gene discovery studies using genome sequencing, GWAS and transcript expression profiling methods to understand both common and rare vascular diseases, including fibromuscular dysplasia, arterial dissections, arterial aneurysms, and hypertension. We are using in vitro cellular and in vivo models to assess the functional significance of our genomic discoveries. Our studies are closely tied to the clinic, with human tissue and blood samples from patients and thus trainees can expect to gain exposure to translational aspects of their research projects. We have several data sets and reagents already generated (exome sequencing, GWAS genotyping, cellular and mouse models) that provide a rich opportunity for productivity and publications for a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow. The lab is initiating a project on Neurofibromatosis and vascular disease involvement, with a well established biorepository of clinical and genetic data, with new findings that would allow a trainee to hit the group running on this topic. We additionally are studying sex differences of the genetic findings and have preliminary data to support a project focused on this aspect as well.
This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in both human genetics and functional biology investigation and how the two are integrated in disease-oriented research. The ideal candidate is highly motivated to learn scientific methods and to write manuscripts and grant applications. The laboratory has secured multiple NIH and non-NIH sources of funding.

M.D. or Ph.D. required. Basic science discipline preferred, such as molecular biology, cell biology, or vascular biology. Candidates with a computational skills are also encouraged to apply.
Candidates should have publications in genetics, molecular biology, vascular biology, or computational biology/transcriptomics areas, with an interest in human genetics.
40 hours, full-time. Days -- hours negotiable (especially now in the time of COVID).
